Großer Arbersee

The Great Arber Lake is located at the south-east side of the Großer Arber on the area of the municipality Bayerisch Eisenstein in the ARBERLAND. The impressing Arber-Lake-Wall with its swap troughs, cliff cascades and little waterfalls is home of one of the most impressing primeval forests of the Bavarian Forest. The Great Arber Lake is a unique relic of the ice age because it is a typical cirque lake which was formed by the mighty Arber glacier. The cultivated and well developed lake loop road can be used by the young and the old in summer as well as in winter and is an approximately 30 minutes walk. On the loop road you can experience varieties of nature with always changing views on the adorable Arber Lake. The house at the Arber Lake was built in the year 1904 by the dynasty Hohenzollern. With the big sunny terrace it offers one of the most beautiful views on the Arber Lake and to the Arber Lake Wall. The Arber Lake House offers home style cuisine and is known as a popular destination for excursions. The boating on the Great Arber Lake is a popular tradition for more than 100 years.

Großer Arber

The Grosser Arber is with 1456 m the highest mountain of the Bavarian Forest and is therefore known as the “King of the Bavarian Forest”. The Großer Arber is also special because of his nature. The Rißloch Waterfalls, different moors, ice age lakes with precipitous lake walls and the primeval forest give this area its unspoilt character. With a six person cable car and various drag lifts the Großer Arber is a family ski region and offers an unlimited winter sport pleasure, downhills of all degrees of difficulty from an alpine world cup slope to an overhang lead from the top through deeply snow-covered forests. The Arber massif offers extensive hiking possibilities. A glass panorama- elevator makes you experience the Arber in a new way!
